Lower your stress

Everyone is navigating through unprecedented times right now. However, that does not mean you allow stress to consume you. When stressed our body produces stress hormones which negatively impact our immune system. Therefore it is important to tame that stress with mediation or yoga to give you an edge in staying healthy.

Avoid caffeinated drinks to get proper sleep

Expanding more on our previous point, when you do not get enough sleep, you are more likely to feel stressed. Sure, caffeinated drinks might help you stay awake, but heavy consumption will make you addicted to them which will pose difficulties in getting ample sleep. Proper sleep will help you reduce stress, and in turn, boost your immunity which is crucial at this point in time.

Eat healthier

Another way to ensure a strong immune system is to watch your diet. Eighty percent of your immune system is in the gut, so when it’s healthy, we tend to be able to fight off infections faster and better. Consume food that is rich in nutrients such as citrus fruits, spinach, broccoli and garlic. They have several vitamins that are good for your body. It’s also important to limit meat, especially processed and fried foods.

Do exercise

With all the time in the world, some people have started working out at home which is a powerful way to boost the immune system. It causes your body’s antibodies and white blood cells to circulate more rapidly, which means they may be able to detect and zero in on bugs more quickly. However, one should never forget that too much exercise can spike stress levels. Moderation is the key so monitor your energy levels and don’t push yourself too much.

These four easy steps can go a long way in strengthening your immune system so add them to your to-do list and get started now.
